Happy Ending

As stories went, his was not one for the books, but it was worth telling.

Here was a man who loved women, but could not tell them that he loved them. It may have been some freaky DNA, or it may have been the sheer number of women he loved, that he could never know for sure.

First it was the girl on his bus who gave him a butterfly sticker in kindergarten. She always waited for him with a big smile. That could have been love, as far as love between four year olds goes.

And then there were none for a long long time. And then the hormones started creating havoc and then there were too many. But they were always out of his league. Older, too beautiful, had a boyfriend, not interested in him, the list of reasons for nothing happening just went on.

He passed out of school, and college was worse. The numbers were staggering. But still no luck. Girls liked him in college, but he was more drawn to being in his own space. A slight hash/opium addiction did not help things either.

He had a few girls who were friends, but nothing clicked. An then drunk at a party, he kissed the girl he had liked for a while. That went on for a few months till she found out he was interested in other girls as well. The breakup was hard as first breakups are.

And then he got seduced by an older woman and that was the end of his virginity. It was all hormones and nothing else.

The high life or rather, getting high was his main squeeze and it was the conduit through which life lessons got to him. There were a few windows when he got into a sexual situation but nothing came of them.

There was also an acid scare, following which he met the girl he would marry. She was no picnic, but at least she was a girl who liked him. He stopped getting high. The marriage lasted longer than most thought and she screwed him up real good in the end.

Post divorce the pickings were slim and the high life came back.

In all he could have loved maybe a hundred women in his life, but something always felt askew. It may have been a subconscious fear of getting stuck with one forever.

Somebody better was always there and so it never really got down to a a serious relationship with any woman.

There were always women on the radar, but never anything that felt right.

And then a period of madness came and it took many years of his life. And then came a resurrection and as always, a higher path was found and life became good again.

God had found him.

And in that, the mysteries of life that stay hidden from most people became clear as day to him. This was a most unexpected revelation and it consumed him. It made everything all right. And everything was. And in the end, that was that and he lived happily ever after.
