A Fun Day!
Nick was awake well before the alarm rang. He turned it off and was looking forward to a day filled with fun activities. For him, fun at seventeen was saturating all your senses with everything you could take in.
He got up and went through his morning routine and got dressed. He rushed through breakfast and left before anyone could ask him anything.
He had just got into a Hotel Management college and had made new friends. New friends he wanted to get high with. He rolled a joint on the way to college as there were no classes for the day as the seniors were hosting a French food festival and had even booked a band.
He was nice and stoned when he got to the college. There was just a sea of people and he met his friends Raka and Ashok. Ashok was helping some seniors prep for the festival which was in the evening. Raka was just hanging loose and had no plans. Nick hung out with him and they discussed the plans for the day.
“So here is how it goes” said Nick, “First we smoke up and then we head to Jai Hind college to see Short Circuit play this afternoon. They have just added a brilliant guitarist to the band which already has another brilliant guitarist. It will be a treat to see this version of the band. Then we head back for the French food festival and watch Sabre Tooth, who are playing at the food festival in the evening. Then we head out and crash a party in Bandra and spend the night at my place.”
The itinerary was agreed upon and they set out. Another joint was smoked on the way to Jai Hind college. Then Raka picked up some quarters of whiskey and those were downed before the concert. They bumped into other friends at the concert and shared whatever was being passed around. The band was truly at its best. The new lineup had a magical effect on everyone. One master guitarist is good, but two are even better. After the show they headed to the French food festival and got there just in time to see the band getting finished with their sound check.
Ashok greeted them with hash brownies that some of the seniors had made. This was getting better and better. They washed down the brownies with some wine that was being passed around.
The band came on and they enjoyed an evening of Iron Maiden covers to be followed by French food. When the band ended its set, they tried to get to the restaurant for the dinner prepared by the seniors. There was total chaos and it looked like it would take a couple of hours before they would get a table.
Nick decided to screw it and decided to leave. Raka excused himself for a few minutes and went to his hostel room. He came back pleased as hell. He showed a bottle of codeine cough syrup and said “This is for later.”
They headed out to Lucky’s in Bandra and filled their starving bellies with biryani and butter chicken with nans.
They hooked up with AJ , one of Nick’s friends and headed out to the party. The two of them downed the codeine cough syrup on the way and were looking forward to the party.
They reached the party and split up. Nick went to get a drink and the next thing he remembered was waking up in his bed the next morning.
Everything that he had consumed had caught up in the night and he had passed out at the bar and AJ and Raka had carried him home and put him to bed while he threw up.
They cleaned up after him and he groggily mumbled “Never again; never again”.
